Thank you Chris, now I downloaded the installer, but when I try to install within the library folder, I get the message that "the current user does not have permissions to write in that directory". Even though, when I open the info-box of my user library folder it states that I do have read/write privileges.

Is there a terminal command or something that sets those rights recursively for all folders or what do I have to do to install AI War inside the SteamApps?

If I install the game inside my applications directory and try to copy it afterwards, it is just copying aliases to the specified library location...

I honestly don't know much about permissions on OSX. I'm not sure why that would be happening. I wonder if this is related to the files not downloading properly in the first place. If you copy the folder from the applications directory to the other directory that should be more than an alias, though. Unless there is something special about the applications folder I don't know, in which case you could install to the desktop folder and copy from there, because I know THAT works. You may just need to open the applications folder in finder and then copy the contents of the directory rather than the directory itself.

I now managed to copy the files inside the AI War Fleet Command folder. The game started and I put in all serial numbers. Version is now 6000 and I have 3 remaining beta updates to download. Should I download and install those? What are they for?

Again, when I tried with the first button: Download and install all updates, steam seems to download the updates, quits the game, but when I launch it again, the 3 updates remain shown as uninstalled.

At least now, when I press the installer button, the installer actually opens.

Nevertheless, I would like this to actually work for future updates. Until now, I haven't heard back from Steam Support.

Wishing you a great weekend. Thank you for all your help until now...

Cheers, sounds like you're all set.  I hope that future steam updates will work properly now that whatever the game files are actually there.

In terms of the beta updates, you can click the "what's new" link to see what is in those.  Those are basically work-in-progress updates since our last official release, and in this case I think they are worth getting for sure.  The in-game updater was bugged in version 5.000 and was fixed in 6.000, so that's why the difference there.  You can now use the updater without any issues.

Anyway, you should be all good to go!

Yea, you'll want the beta updates :)  6.0 is in pretty good shape, but the latest beta is better and has some interesting changes.  Though there are some things that are genuinely beta (the rework of astro trains and roaming enclaves, notably).
