license key recovery
« on: July 19, 2012, 02:49:48 pm »
Hello,

My notebook with AI war is getting ready to die and I would like to find and save my license keys for the base game and expansions that I have.

TY

The easiest way to do that is probably to e-mail me at [email protected], and give me any info you can about your original purchase (name, e-mail address, etc.)

Actually, just hang onto your entire settings.dat file and that will preserve everything -- license keys, settings, etc.

Heck, you could just copy the whole AIWar directory to a flash drive and run around with that from PC to PC. Love it when you can do that with PC games.

For that matter, you can actually run it while it's on the flash drive.  If you do that with a copy that has both the AIWar.app and AIWar_Data subdirectories (like a steam copy) I believe you can plug it into a PC, play AIW there, then plug it into a Mac and play it there (running the AIWar.app thing instead of the windows .exe), and be working with the same settings and save data, etc.

Unity does some things very well.  Crossplatform deployment with zero prerequisite installs is one of them.

Not that I recommend running stuff off a flashdrive, probably pretty slow getting stuff to and from the USB device, and then there's write-tolerance issues, etc... :)
