Cannot update, OSX- Solved

Hi, I've been trying to update the game from 5.0 to the latest but I can't.  I have gone through the stickied topic above, downloaded the new updater, trying to update manually, but it doesn't work. The updates are in my /runtime/updates folder, labeled correctly as in 5002.zip. I open up the ai war autoupdater manually and it tells me:

There has been an error.
Error reading file /Users/user/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/ai war fleet command/RuntimeData/RuntimeData/updates/updateslist.txt
The application will exit now.

The only thing of note I could find was that the path to my updates folder does not have two RuntimeData folders as the updater says.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

If you're getting that error message, then the updater was unpacked into the wrong directory.  It needs to go into the base /Users/user/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/ai war fleet command/ folder, not into the /Users/user/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/ai war fleet command/RuntimeData/ subfolder, which is where it must be based on the error message.

Then once the updater is in the proper location, you should be all set!  If it's not already downloaded the stuff into the updates folder (through launching it in-game), you'll need to do trigger the in-game download.  But if it already went through all that, then all you have to do is just have the updater in the right folder and launch it like you were doing.

That was a really fast reply, thanks.  I re-downloaded the updater directly to the correct folder, went back to the game and updated from there and it worked!  Thanks a lot!
