Whenever I select or hover my mouse on a ship the screen goes black

Just bought hte game and having the same exact issue.  Can anyone suggest a setting that will allow me to play?

I have just bought AI War and am running into exactly the same issue. It's unplayable!
Could you please update us on what to do?

First, have you updated to the latest beta (7.009)?
What are your exact interface and graphics settings? (ESC ingame, settings, interface and graphics tabs) This is also where I recommend changing things randomly to see if a solution pops up.
Are you playing fullscreen?

Could you upload a save in a game where you have the issue?
(Under the forum text-entry box will be additional options, one of which will be attach-choose file. The save will be in AI War/RuntimeData/Save)

Thanks for jumping in, but I have found the answer myself. I play on Steam, and I have come to realize that the problem happens each time their is a Steam window that pops up (such as the one telling you that a friend is playing a game). To solve the issue, we just need to close that one. Simple.
