Specific player cannot join game (unsolved)
« on: December 02, 2013, 05:24:09 pm »
I have fowarded the port for the Router, and allowed the program on the only firewall I am aware of.

However, http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ does not see the port as open.

I cannot figure out why it is no longer working.

Have tried several different ports. It used to work fine, but since coming back after some number of months, I cannot host.

Is there any way to determine if any other firewalls are active?

Edit: It turns out, No website can actually ping the server, only other players can.

Edit2: Actually, the problem is far more bizzare.

I can host, most people can join.
One person, however, cannot.
And, I can join their game, and they can join other people's game.

How is that even possible?

Try setting your computer as the DMZ Host (router setting).  If that doesn't work then yes, there's another firewall running.  If it does work, then it means you haven't port forwarded correctly.

(I happen to have my computer set as the permanent DMZ Host, as there are several games that have not-mentioned ports needing to be opened *cough, Borderlands on release day, cough* and rather than try and muddle through that, I just opened ALL the ports.  For a home machine this is actually not-dangerous, as a hacker isn't going to bother targeting me: I'm too small to care about).

Ok. Enabling that did not help. So, It is probably a firewall.

I am unsure how to determine all of the firewalls I have active.

I have one, with two sections that can be configured.
Both are allowing AI wars, both protocalls, any port.

Check your antivirus or for a Windows firewall.

From what I can tell, I have windows firewall, and Microsoft Security Essentials.

The second seems to be a scanner, and unrelated.

Windows firewall has the correct settings to allow it through. AI wars, any port, both protocols.

Also, I tested Warcraft 3, and I can still host on that, through port 6112. This port does not work for AI wars however.

Disable the firewall just for a minute to see if that's the problem.

Disabled, didn't work.

http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

~AI wars will show port 32320 as open with this website if you open a lobby, correct?

Because otherwise, I am doing this wrong, and need to ask a friend for help testing.

Edit: As per http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php?topic=8657.0 , It turns out, it was set up correctly, and while no website can test it, another person can. It is working correctly now.

It turns out, the problem wasn't exactly on my end. It seems to be, that that one particular person can't join my games.

Other people can join his game, including me, and he can join anyone else's game, just not mine.

What????
