Solved - Steam saturated (installing on OSX)

Hey guys,

I know you have nothing to do with Steam, but here is what I'm trying to do. I had bought AI Wars and its expansions, and activated the keys I had from you into steam. Now, I want to install the game, but it just isn't working.

I get always the same error : Steam servers are saturated. Please try later. What's weird, is that I bought two other indie games from Steam, and they downloaded without any trouble. One direct via Steam, and another one which I transferred the keys. Both were ok for immediate download.

It's now 48 hours I'm trying to install AI Wars, but it's always saturated and only for AI Wars. Still haven't tried for Tidalis, but I will.

Is there any chances that there is a problem with the repository of AI Wars into Steam servers ?

I will also ask the same question at steam support, but as you guys might know, Steam support is less reactive than you guys :p

No problems that I'm aware of -- we have sales every day and I'd Expect we'd have heard about this if it was failing to install. You might try deleting the entire ai war folder under the steam folder-- steam puts in some metadata there, which might be messed up.

And if steam really was under major load (which doesn't sound right, this isn't a major push compared to, say, the last few weeks of December), you can download the game from any of the mirrors here:

And your license key will work (as it will on a copy from anywhere).

It won't be inside steam, naturally, but if what you want is to play the game, etc.

Great ! It is now working guys...

I deleted the AI Wars folder, but the problem kept on. I then went inside the Libraries/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps, and deleted any files with AI Wars there... (on a Mac here)

Relaunched Steam, and it is now downloading... Cool stuff !

Perfect!  Ah, yeah, I forgot to mention those other AI War files on a Mac -- I've had that same problem on my Mac.  It seems like, on Mac only, if a game fails to install one time for whatever reason, then it's kind of hosed forevermore from installing until you delete those files.  But deleting those files makes for a simple enough workaround, thankfully.
