[Solved] Startup: Unhandled Exception error

Hi there,

I'm new to the forums, so i'll use this opportunity to... say hi

sadly, my first post is kinda bleak, i got a problem with starting up AI wars: Fleet command.
i bought the game via Stardock and downloaded/installed it via Impulse, their software dock program.
i also installed .NET 3.5 sp 1 (directly from microsoft.com) and SlimDX (march '09, directly from their site), but... no good, the game crashes on startup and gives me an "unhandled exception" error, twice!

they're both the same window, but the unhandled error file says otherwise, i uploaded it with this post.

here's some system specs if necessary:

Intel E8600 dual-core processor (3.33 Ghz)
4 GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 1GB video card
on-board soundcard
32" lcd-tv and 22" samsung monitor

EDIT:
the tv runs a 1920 x 1080 resolution and the monitor runs a 1680 x 1050 resolution.
it's currently trying to start up on the big screen... i'll try the small screen tomorrow morning.

i also downloaded the latest driver for my video card, still no luck :\

could anyone give me some pointers on this?

the notepad file is in dutch, but "bij" just means "by", so don't fret

Hi there,

Welcome to the forums, although I'm sorry to hear of your trouble there.  From the unhandledexceptions.txt file you provided, I see this message:  "Het lettertype Arial ondersteunt de stijl Regular niet."  I can't translate that exactly, but it looks like perhaps you do not have the Arial font installed on your system?  The game assumes that is always present, which might be something I need to look at since you don't have it on yours.  It's one of the core microsoft fonts though, so I thought it was supposed to always be available (and this is the first time it has come up, despite a lot of international sales).  Here's one place where it looks like you can get the Arial font for free (I don't endorse this site, it was just the top result off google):  http://web.nickshanks.com/fonts/microsoft-core-web-fonts

that phrase literally translates to "the Arial font does not support the regular style"

sorry, i tried installing an english windows XP but i lost the struggle with the installer that time.

lemme check your link for a sec... and i tried the second screen, didn't work
