[Solved] No sound anymore..
« on: October 23, 2009, 12:57:28 pm »
Not a launch issue, i can start the game fine with no errors or anything like that.
At first i played the tutorials, had sound just fine. Then after exiting and restarting the game a few times during the day, i only had interface sounds.
And now, no sounds at all.. Tried muting / unmuting the sound ingame, tried resetting the values, tried reinstalling direct x, there's nothing changed or wrong with my sound drivers (Asus Xonar D2), and as i said, no ingame or launch errors.

Whats up? The music works though, so obviously my install Can read the .ogg files properly.
edit: Tried to reinstall, now i dont even have music, lol.

When you go into Settings, and look in the Game Data Directory that shows up down at the bottom, do you find any error messages in that directory?  Something like SoundLoadExceptions.txt or something like that?

This is not a known issue with the game, so most likely there is actually something wrong with your sound drivers, or there is something else interfering with DirectSound playback.  Most other DirectSound apps play very nicely with AI War (I often have MediaMonkey playing in the background, for instance, since I'm often starting and stopping the game for testing), but there are a few programs out there that might not be as kind to simultaneous running with other DirectSound applications.

Ah, good old Windows.  It knows we love it (well, sort of), but sometimes it just wants some extra attention and so does something naughty, I guess.
