[solved] Missing Localisations
« on: December 02, 2009, 04:57:52 pm »
Starting with the expansion, up to the current N prerelease, I'm getting a lot of "MISSING LOCALIZATION" strings in the UI - most notably AI types and descriptions.

I'm attaching the LocalizationMissingErrors.txt file, it might help track them down.

Sorry for your trouble there.  It appears that your zip file was not properly unpacked; it is not replacing the xml files in the Lanauge folder for some reason.  You might want to try unpacking your files from N again, as if there are other missing files this could cause issues.  Given that the entire XML file is included in the zip file, it's clearly not applying it at all if it is having this sort of issue; sometimes various unzipping tools can be a little funny like that, especially if the files-to-overwrite are locked.  The built-in unzipping functionality of windows generally does it pretty reliably from what I have seen.

Hope that helps!

No problem, I figured it had to be something on my end, or there would be a whole bunch of bug reports. ;)

Using 7zip instead of winRAR worked, without re-downloading. No clue why winRAR let me down this time...

I like 7zip, myself -- that is strange about WinRAR, though. Glad it's working now!

It probably wasn't preserving the directory structure, so it extracted all the files in the top directory. There should be a checkbox option in WinRAR to make that work right.

No, the directory structure was preserved. My guess is there was somehow a read-only flag on the XML that 7zip handled better than winRAR. I bought the original game through Impulse and the Expansion from Arcengames, so this constellation might contribute to the confusion.
