Cannot finish tutorial

Hi,
I downloaded AI War on Steam and was looking forward to play the game.
Unfortunately I cannot finish the tutorial since after playing for some time (always when scrolling out with the mousewheel) the screen goes black.
With Ctrl+Alt+Delete and then Cancel to get back into the game, I (often) get (most of, since the metal& crystal harvesters often are not there anymore) the visuals back, however can't scroll otherwise loose them again.

That sounds to me like something else you are running is interfering with your game. What are you running in the background?

I don't run anything. This time I paid extra attention to this, however after 10Min of gameplay - without any problems and intensive scrolling - all of a sudden after using the mousewheel the same problem occurred again.

Generally with things of this sort, it's a graphics card driver.  I would suggest updating your graphics card drivers if they are not already on the latest version.  Although, with nVidia cards, the 19x line was having a lot of problems in various games (AI War and many others) on some cards.  With my 8800GT it was fine, but with some other cards it was a big problem.  So, if you're in the 190s on nVidia, you may also want to try downgrading to the 180s to try that you.
