Author Topic: Steam shift tab interface not working while playing Fixed (Read 8886 times)

Not sure if this is due to a recent beta update or not, but my game in steam doesn't seem to load up the interface anymore. It works with the other games I have on steam just fine, and it says I'm in game playing AI War when I launch it. The interface just doesn't come up anymore, and it also appears the achievements that are linked to your steam account aren't picking up as well. I got a scrap achievement in game, but steam didn't realize it. Figured I should mention it.

Hmm, I just tested this in 3.120 on Steam and it worked, then upgraded to 3.171 and it still worked. Is it possible that you were temporarily offline in the Steam client, or something of that nature? Did it say "Steamworks enabled!" in the top left corner of AI War at the time? Sounds like perhaps not, so in that case it didn't detect steam running for whatever reason; launching the game from Steam would solve that, if you didn't before. I'm on the June 15th version of Steam -- is that what you're on?

This is definitely a mystery, hopefully it's a transient thing or one of the above things helps.

It seems that steamworks wasn't loading into AI war. I was online but it didn't register. Restarting steam didn't help, but uninstalling and redownloading AI war did. Apparently something happened when I updated I guess.

Hummm... that is super odd. I guess we'll keep an eye out for more occurrences of this, not sure what else to do. Maybe some sort of glitch related to all therecent steam upgrades, not sure.

This happens to me occasionally on SC2, so i don't think it's an AI war thing.

I think it has something to do with me putting my computer to sleep instead of shutting it down at night. I very rarely turn my computer off, i just put it to sleep instead. After waking it up, if I try to shut down steam it says AI war is still running, which it isn't. So I think that might be what the problem is. Steam is unable to load into the game due to it thinking it is already loaded, even though the process isn't running. Killing steam and restarting it fixes the issue.
