Is there any way to move the saved games folder to another location?  I'd like to put it on a network drive instead of in my C:\Program Files (x86) directory.  It's also bad form for the app to store user files in this location.  This is a recent standard install, all expansions, no Steam.

Thanks,
Shane

Yep, there's absolutely nothing wrong with just copying the entire folder anywhere you like.

We actually specifically store the saves and other user data in this folder so that it's super simple to:
1. Copy the folders anywhere like this.
2. Have as many installs on one machine as you want (say, with different versions, which some people do).
3. Zip up the entire thing and move it to another machine without hunting in many locations.

Etc.  I know the SOP that is recommended by the OS, and generally I'm in agreement with that.  But here we felt like the advantages of the way we do it are really strong.  A lot of indie games do this for similar reasons (Minecraft comes immediately to mind), although we all kind of did it at the same time rather than seeing one another doing it.

Cheers!

Thank you Chris, that's easily the most responsive reply I've ever received from a lead developer!  Thank you for the really outstanding game, which I had never heard of until two days ago.

I might not have been clear enough in my question or fully understood your reply.  Can I get the game to recognize the new saved directory so I can access it in-game from two PCs?  The location doesn't seem to be editable in the 'Settings' menu.  I have one PC upstairs, one down, and I'd like to share the saves between them depending on my location.  Alternately I can just move the whole game to the network share if it doesn't mind being moved in its entirety.

Thanks again,
Shane

Also, I may have been insufficiently clear about what happened on my PC - Windows 8, x64.  The game installer requested admin permission by default to install to C:\Program Files (x86) which I granted.  It then placed the save folder within that install folder, not in C:\Users\...etc.  I thought I had read elsewhere on the forum that it would put the save folder in C:\Users\etc... but in my case that did not happen.  Hence I'm trying to get it out without going through a complete reinstall into My Documents or something.

My pleasure, and sorry about the lack of clarity on my end.  To answer your questions:

1. The game cannot read savegames from any other folder than from its own runtime folder (RuntimeData/Save inside its install folder).

2. However, you can copy the game folder entirely wherever you want.  There are no registry settings or what have you.  So you can easily move it to the network drive just by a file copy, and then run it from both machines.

Cheers!
