Getting my serial key from Steam

Hey all, I hope you can help me with this problem because I am itching to start playing this already.
Recently, my brother brought me AI war and CoN for my birthday. Unfortunately, he bought it for me through Steam, and Steam doesn't seem to be able to get through my university router because no games are listed.
So I was wondering if there was any way I could find out what my serial key for the game is, that way I can just download the game through other channels and activate it myself.

Hmm, we're not experts on the Steam UI and mechanisms, but to my knowledge someone has to launch Steam with your account and then hit the View CD Keys option on the list entry for the game in question.  If your brother has your login/password, I imagine that he could retrieve that for you, and then you'd be able to download the game from our site and play.  Hope that helps!

Thanks! Yeah, I figured that was an option, but I hoped there was something more simple.

There may be -- as I noted, we're not experts on all the intricacies of the Steam system.  But, glad that helps at least!

Just a note that I successfully got my serial key through Steam (right click, view cd key)

Note that you have to have installed the game locally to access the menu option.

Note also that the game doesn't have to be fully installed, you can get the serial key while it's downloading.

My motivation for this was so I could play AI War on my linux laptop (using wine).
