no sound under linux

I check the setting, not muted, volume looks ok, system not muted

For diagnostic purposes, can you test this under an Ubuntu install version 10.10 or later?  That's what the unity engine we're using officially supports, though generally it does fine with a bunch of other distros.

Also, are you running the x64 or x86 version of the game?

yes, the game work well under ubuntu 13.04

I know this is an ancient topic, but it's the first google hit when you search for "AI War linux no sound".

First, make sure all the necessary 32bit libraries are installed. That was my problem.

If you are running PulseAudio you HAVE to install the lib32-libpulse library to get any sound at all. Since Steam primarily uses ALSA for sound, make sure you also have lib32-alsa-plugins as well as pulseaudio-alsa (for ALSA playback through PulseAudio).
