Using Hamachi, can't see each other or direct connect
« on: February 04, 2014, 03:40:07 am »
My friend and I are attempting to play this game together, but we're unable to connect to each other, at least we believe.

We're using Hamachi. Our Port in game settings is set to 32320 for both of us. Hamachi is up-to-date and configured correctly. Neither of us can see the other on the LAN server search, and direct connect for both of us is stuck at 00% of Transferring Data for Full Game Sync, regardless of what ip we actually enter. I've used a couple of different made up ones and still got to that same point.

Anything we can do? From my understanding we don't need to port forward for Hamachi, right?

No port forwarding required on hamachi. You may need to make firewall exceptions, though. It's been a few years since I used hamachi, so I'm out of date on their specifics. But it used to be that just using the hamachi address of the other person (5.x.x.x) would work for direct connect. But broadcast messages would not pass through, so not seeing the game on the listing on the LAN is normal.

Some other folks around here have switched to using other services like Tunngle for a variety of reasons, some not to do with our games I believe. I've just been port forwarding, so I've not paid too close of attention. Hopefully someone else using that sort of solution will swing by, but right now with hamachi my money would be on firewall.

Hope that helps!
