Lucky for me, I always research mk2's and mk3's so i just rebuild them when they get stupid and think they can fight. :)

I do research them late game.  I just happen to have an army with 500+ parasites in it, so most of my militia is made up of stolen units (having a full compliment of Mk3 bombers, fighters, and frigates without having the ability to research them (I don't have the knowledge) is awesome; then add in a compliment of Mk3 electric shuttles).

Also, the Mk2 that died was originally mine, it turns out.  I'd only stolen 3 Mk3 engineers, all of which are still alive.  In any case, I recently stole another 10 Mk2s (the Mk3s escaped). :P

Interesting concept.  I wouldn't of thought about using parasites in that regard.  I know they help with reclaiming, but I have always considered them more of a distraction then a true fleet builder.

They die a lot.  Especially to Lightning Turrets and Electric Shuttles (a flood of shuttles through a gate is my bane--they're also hard to capture because the other ones nuke it).  They're actually more of a problem them the bulletproof fighters.

But as most of my strategy involves brute force neutering getting my forces back up to strength isn't that difficult: they come through the wormhole after me. :)

Hahaha.

"Sir, why did you just blow up their command station?"

"Recruitment drive."

Exactly! :D

Or I should say mostly.  I want the whole planet, but rather than having to fight my way to the command station and then kill everything, I just blow the station and book it.  The ships I lose doing so I get back when they flow through to my planet.

Yea, though you could also just do the recruitment by detonating the guard posts.  But the command station version has more style.  "The Elephants are in position, Drop the Sock." ;)

I blow up the guardposts later.  Then I colonize.  I'm on a 30 planet map and am going for a single chokepoint.  I will end up owning about half the map--shame one of the planets (an AI owned one) got mined into dust.  Once I have my impenetrable chokepoint I'll colonize it for the singular useful structure: A human colony (which, amazingly, still does supply 45 metal and crystal even though nothing else works).

If I understand the request correctly, a control node would be wrong.
I think what they want is a ship command "assist this ship and only this ship".
YESS YESS YES!!!

If you like parasites that much.. do try the leech starship.. it's tons more durable and with you fleet replenishes your numbers quite nicely (MRS parked around adds to that).

But I don't think I managed to capture engineers even after cleaning up chain of 4 AI planets.

I have those too. <3

And I'm starting to use them in other games where I don't have parasites (as I said to a friend, "I've found new love for the Leech Starship").

Also: I just had to take out a mining golem.  I thought I'd try and meet it halfway out in deepspace.  NEWSFLASH: ships get massive slowdown penalties away from the planet.  I ended up scrapping my Mk1 units and rebuilding them in order to actually do useful damage to the ship (the Mk2+ that I'd reclaimed I shoved back in transports and sent them home--where they arrived a half hour later).  I also lost all my Leeches before I could save them. :(  They're expensive.
