Just to check as I had a few problems updating on steam for "AI War: Destroyer of Worlds"

Is the latest version 8.004?

No, the latest version is 8.003.
This has to be a typo on the news frontpage of Arcen games.

Edit: However Ai Wars says to me that it has a beta patch update aviable, so 8.004 might come soon.

No, the latest released version on the patch notes page (http://www.arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Current_Post-8.000_Beta) is 8.004.

8.004 is a beta release with a fix for a crash-on-autosave issue some folks were having.  Since it just had the one thing and we were communicating directly with the people reporting the issue we didn't make a lot of noise about it :)
