Defender
« on: October 27, 2012, 01:57:47 am »
So I was tooling around in Defender looking to learn a little more about the mode and maybe glean some more info for a Mantis report. http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=9815

I played about an 1:45 of a 4 hour defender. Turtle and Support Corps 7/7 (mirrored the mantis report).

In that time I was only ever attacked by reinforcement overflow.

I blitzed 2 AI systems so I had a buffer. Got a few scouts out to see what AI movements were. I could see SF movements and all that jazz.
GD that roaming SF fleet....
Not one wave alert was issued the entire segment.

Checked the logs afterwards and there was no AIThreadWaveComputationLog.txt.
The MainWaveThreadComputationLog.txt was there.

Best if I just give you a save. Fire it up and crank it to +10.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Wait, doesn't Turtle not do waves, and Support doesn't either, it just adds to the other AI's waves?  Or does Defender always do waves?

It's supposed to always do waves on Defender; at least so says the code.  I'm looking into it.

I got told the same thing over on Mantis. I put it to the fire and cooked up something for Keith. Hopefully, a solution will come of it.

Fixed a longstanding (forever, basically) bug where non-wave AIs (Turtle, Support Corps, etc) would not launch waves even in a Defender-campaign game.

..... That was fast... Must have been boosted by the Support Corps  :P
