Attached it anyway!

Note on crash

Game is non responsive on launch. I own the steam copy of the game, and still doesn't run after multiple re-installs

Welcome to the forums :)

Sorry about it not working; I think this is the first time I've seen a report of the game dying that early in the process when the application started at all.  Timing aside, given the nature of the engine there's nothing our code can really do to generate that kind of crash (the sort that generates a DMP) other than hyper-fragmenting the heap, which isn't going to happen during the game's initialization.  So I'm mainly looking for platform-related causes here.

Want antivirus/anti-spyware/etc stuff is running when you try to launch AI War?  Some antivirus programs like to kill our games without explanation, though generally it's related to it checking for updates (which it wouldn't have gotten to at that early a stage of init; only the very first stage is mentioned in the log you attached).
Have ideas or bug reports for one of our games? Mantis for Suggestions and Bug Reports. Thanks for helping to make our games better!

Well the only thing that is actively running in terms of anti virus/malware is AVG 2014 Free Edition. I tried disabling it and running Ai War and still have the same crash.

I'm not sure if there was any updates to to the game, it had been about 5 or 6 months since I tried launching it on Steam.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but this kind of crash is something outside what our code can cause or prevent.  I literally can't write a function in it to cause that kind of crash even if I wanted to.  So either:
- There's some obscure bug in the Unity engine (I say obscure because I'm not aware of any other case where this game crashes in this way at that time during startup), which is outside the scope of things we can fix
- or there's some aspect of the software (i.e. antivirus, which aren't always fully disabled even when they claim to be) or hardware of your specific machine that's interfering with it, which is also outside the scope of things we can fix

So the only two things I can think of to suggest are:
1) Try to run the game on a different machine.
2) PM me for a refund

Well the strange thing is that the game runs on my old PC. And by old, I mean from 2005. It has serious FPS issues in major battles though so I prefer to play it on this laptop because it's quite unplayable after the fleet grows at all. I had no issues running the game last time on this laptop and I'm really, really curious why it keeps crashing. I guess I'll just try to find out myself. Makes no sense to me what would be causing the crash.

A refund is out of the question - The game is simply incredible for an indie developer. I already have light of the spire but I wouldn't be opposed to getting a code for one of the other DLC's to put in my back pocket for the distant future when I get a rig that can run it! Heeheehee. Nah I'm just jokin.. I'll gladly pay for it when I can actually play the game in the future :) You guys deserve every penny

By the way the music is stunning in Ai War when I played the game before I didn't even touch the Light of the Spire content but the music alone is well worth the price!

Just wondering did you ever try to run AI War Fleet Command without using STEAM?

Edit: if you are using Windows Vista or Seven it is usually in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ai war fleet command if using windows XP it should be under program files I am not sure for windows 8. You can then try to launch it by clicking the AIWar icon.

Wow somebody give this guy a medal. That actually worked

I thought I had all my bases covered because I tried launching it with Steam AND with a program with XFire which pulls the .exe which in my mind should be exactly the same as running it from the folder you mentioned

At any rate, it is working. Maybe worth mentioning to the Steam folks who play Ai War that this is a SIMPLE work around.

Thank you my friend.

And thank you to the Arcen folks for their support too!

Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you were using XFire, I think that can impact things.  Normally I remember to ask people to try it outside steam, that's sometime a source of issues as well.  Though not that particular issue, I think.

Anyway, very glad you're able to enjoy the game on the beefier computer now :)

And yes, Pablo Vega's music is really awesome.  He's got a lot of it up at bandcamp: http://arcenmusic.bandcamp.com/ ; also on Spotify if that's something you use.

Glad I could help you, I had a similar problem on another game once and launching it from the folder worked.
