How to use advanced research stations (solved)

So I captured an advanced research station a while ago without really noticing it, and it now I realize it says "capture to gain a new ship type for your team to build at space docks" Well, I captured it already, is there some button you have to press to get a new ship type? Because I still only have scouts, fighters, bombers, missile frigate, and the sole type you get to pick at the start (space planes for me) in my space dock. Is the 'ship type' just a free tier for one of my ships? Did it do a random roll with the available ship types and roll space planes, so I unlock a ship type I already have? I'm not sure I get what I'm supposed to do here....

If you hacked it before capture then there'll be an ARS tab on any science ship on that planet (that one included) where you pick your type from the three available.

If you didn't hack it the new bonus type is granted automatically, but it may have been a bonus starship, and you'd find those on the starship constructor (and if it's a modular type like the Spire Corvette or Protector Starship you'll see those on separate tabs of the starship constructor).

Or is it not doing any of those things?

I can think of one other thing that could of caused this did you hack an AI Design Backup server before capturing the Advanced Research Station? if it had one of the ships the ARS had you will not get a new one at all.

Ah ok, it is actually a starship (zenith devastator). It should probably say in the description 'space dock or starship constructor' instead of just 'space dock.' There are too many starships to easily keep track of at first, although the raid ships seem to be rather useful. Since it was added before I started mass producing starships, I suppose I just missed it popping up in the queue. Thanks for the help.
