So. Last night I was playing a fairly epic run on at-the-time the latest beta patch.

Must say, I'm loving riot ships--tho they're certainly a bit more in the realm of balanced now... and transports. Wondrous transports.

This was a single-player game with AI set to 7.3 Moderate/Easy AI's, Zenith Remnant expansion, with all the dressings. (XD What can I say, I like crazy.)

Semi-gradually I started to notice things started to be at the wrong pace... Thinking I was just tired I shook it off. That said I did remark that I was being hit by raids that were set to speed 100 at one point. Weird, irritating, but whatever. They were dieing. It's scary when speed 100 zenith bombards don't phase you... (Teleport raiders for ya xD)

Then I noticed my transports I was sending to deal with a mining golem FLYING across systems. I mean, they're fast normally but this was crazy, possibly as fast as or faster than teleport ships usually make it through a system... Also. Looking up, the mining golem's counter was going REALLY fast. Nearly 10 times my computers clock.

At this point, I saved, quit, and reloaded. Apon loading things were normal speed again... Well, overall at least. No idea about those crazy bombard raids I had been swatting for the last 1.5hrs... Those were pretty much handled.

This was patch 3.055, with the expansion very active.
In a sub-note I probably should report separately but am lazy... Riot ships were fully killing engines most if not all of the time. 4x Machine-gun, 1x Shotgun, 1x Shield Mk.I's...

I can post save, but as I said, loading didn't seem to replicate the speedup. I actually played past the load a good hour or so before I slimly failed to kill the mining golem (Damn thing had 1.4m hp left... ;.;) and decided to give up since simultaneously the AI had decided to hit me with 4x the usual random non-raid-raids. While my entire fleet was dead from trying to kill the damn mining golem. All said the issue didn't seem to show back up.

My system specs:
Athlon x2 5000+ BE (@2.8Ghz atm... She's stable under stress to 3.2Ghz tho. Tho I only sit her at 3Ghz at most, and even that sparingly.)
4GB DDR2 800Mhz (All shiny corsair sticks XD)
8800GT 512MB... Sorta. It has GTX ram chips... but is otherwise a 8800GT. Don't ask me why, but I do appreciate it xD
Some highly irrelevant 500GB WD and Seagate hdds... :P
Windows 7 Ultimate x64, retail. (Not beta or rc ^.^...) [:P Only paid 65$ for this legitimately, yay for M$ student deals... tho it only gets ya pro now...)
1920x1080 22" ASUS LCD + 1280x1024 17in no-name LCD set up in "extend desktop"

Hmm, my guess is that you bumped the plus key -- that increases the speed of the simulation by a large amount with just one press.  I've not heard of any other reports of this, and can't duplicate it myself, so my best guess at the moment is that's what it was.  If you see it again, look to the right side of the screen and see if there is a "Speed + 1" or anything like that over there.  If so, just use the minus key to go back downwards.  Maybe you have + mapped to some other function for voice chat, steam overlay, or something similar?  You could have been accidentally increasing the game speed without thinking about it.

Hope that helps!

XD I figgured out what triggered it. I think anyway. Rather an odd case...

Ya see. I have a Japanese 108/109 keyboard. Bumping + is... Less than simple. (It's a shift function...)

That said, apparently I managed to enter kana(japanese character) input mode and input something it was taking as +...
XD I am hereafter turning OFF the IME before running 95% of games. Something I used to do that I rather need to start doing again... And rather my fault.
... too easy to accidentally mess up a game with that-weird-key-where-tilde-normally-is or either of the 2 weird keys by the space bar that do things when pressed once... xD... ... ...
(You should see what horrors Dead Space thought of these keys... dear god... that game was IMPOSSIBLE until I disabled em for playing it. One bump and I had to restart the game...)

Reminds me. If you ever make a game that may require opening the console. Please, make the key rebind-able if it's tilde XD... without using said console in particular... tilde is a horrid key on a lot of keyboards...

Oh -- thanks for the clarification on this!  I'm moving this to the tech support forum in case anyone else does run into this.  Glad it was something relatively simple!
