Hello, I REALLY love this game (I have over 150 hours on it in the two months-ish I've owned it) And I've been quite happy with the game

Except... the CPU usage...

The game will cap the CPU usage at about 45-50% and lag out once I hit around 10-15 hours into a game (Less if I use more homeworlds)

I know my Computer can take  over TWICE the punishment the game is giving to my CPU (And I even downloaded a RAM extender program to allow the game to use more RAM), but I've had to play on Extremely low to be able to get more than 2FPS because the CPU keeps capping...

I'm running Windows 8.1 with 8Gigs of ram and a quad-core CPU. I have an intel graphics family graphics card and lots of open harddrive storage. I am running the game off of steam as well, if that makes a difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read!

IIRC, multithreading (loading the work onto multiple cores) is currently not supported, and that making it happen is very hard and probably not really worth doing, as it would have significant negative impacts on multiplayer.

I don't know if plans have changed, but here's a thread from 2011: http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php?topic=8204.0

You're sure that's not your video card that is blocking the game ?

On the theorical side of  things, if it was the CPU calculations blocking the game, moving the graphic details on extremely low would not matter because the CPU does not handle those, the graphic card does. That said, "theory", check with Chris for details.

I mean I set the usage (Yknow, High, normal, low, very low, etc. )in the stats menu to the lowest setting. my video card doesn't even reach 50%, the only thing that craps is the CPU because it doesn't use multiple cores.
