Makes sense, since the auto-check connects to the internet, and the job of a good AV package is to say "no soup for you!". It appears that Kapersky 2010 was just being a tad too enthusiastic about that task
Of course, we don't want folks to have to turn off the auto-check-for-updates; as I imagine the same bug would interfere with trying to get the update at all. Also, we have very frequent updates and don't want folks to miss out on those. Having to mess with the settings.dat to get it to work isn't nice either. But glad there is some workaround. Hopefully it works in general.
Anyway, I'd be very interested to know if 2011 gets around the need for that, etc.
