Connection Issues

The Candy Van Man:
So I'm trying to play AI War with my friend. We are using Hamachi and are connected on a room. We have tried all my IPs to connect, and has not worked. I have done hours of reading and trying and nothing has worked. I've seen talk of using other services other than Hamachi, and if these do work can I have a link? I wish to not port forward because I am unable to port forward. Is there a certain IP type that I have to use for my friend to join?
