Cloaked ships dragging zombies far outside grav well,
« on: October 27, 2014, 08:04:48 pm »
So funny story. We were looking for our engineers on Fortress and we finally found them in the down leftish area. Seems they were after something, so with a lot, tons, much, shift+scrolling to follow their orders line we finally found some zombie ships apparently being dragged off by tractor ships that were continually running from the very ships they were dragging I guess. This is sort of a block because we can't have FRD engineers on our main defense planet at the moment. + who knows what happens if they go out far enough...

Here is a link to the bugtracker issue I submitted:

Thanks for your time!

That's amazing.  They're so far out of the gravity well that when I tachyon'd and sniper'd the three EtherJets, it STILL took three and half minutes for those fighters to make it back, moving at speed 672.

I think the original cause is the Player 2 Radar Jammer Mk II on the planet.  The EtherJet's range is reduced from 5000 to 2500, but the tractors hold the targets at distance 4500.  So the EtherJets continually move towards their target, which is held by the tractor beam at a fixed distance, so it continually moves away.

I know there is a special rule where tractored units can always shoot their captors, regardless of range.  I'd thought there was a similar rule for tractoring units and their targets, but I guess not.

Sounds like something that needs to be fixed.
Even if it is amusing.

That's a great idea, thanks! We should be able to continue playing this weekend like we have been for years haha.
