Changing License Keys
« on: January 15, 2013, 09:05:28 pm »
Hey, I installed this game using my brother's license keys on this computer, but pretty much immediately purchased my own copy after playing through the tutorial and deciding this was definitely worth my time and money (about the time I saw the art assets from Tyrian :D).  Thing is, even if I uninstall and reinstall, the expansions and keys are all still active, and I'm pretty sure it's still referencing his keys.  Is there anyway I can change them over to mine?  I've tried deleting settings.dat but it still loads the expansions anyhow.

I've read the other post saying the license keys are kind of an honor system that's not checked anyhow, but I still feel weird using the other keys when I own my own.

Try the settings.dat in the RuntimeData subdirectory, they are showing up in there for me.

(I assume you deleted the settings.dat in the main AIWar directory from your opening post.)

It doesn't make any difference to the game honestly, but if you want you can delete the license-key lines from your installation's settings.dat file (make a backup first in case the edit goes awry, the game's a bit picky about the format) and the next time you run it it will ask for the keys again.

Thanks for the support :)
