Order e-mail error
« on: November 08, 2010, 07:12:06 pm »
I ordered a LotS code for myself a couple of days ago and just now bought a code from the Arcen store for a friend but I made an error in the email address and omitted the last character so someone else may be getting that code and I've already e-mailed the code to a friend so he can try it out.

Not sure how much of a problem this could be, but after not getting the notification email, I double-checked the order and noticed the typo on my part.  :-[

Since it's from our own store I believe we have the info and the ability to "correct" for the error in some way or another, but this seems more up Chris's alley than mine :)

If you have the key, I wouldn't worry about it overmuch.  I got the email from the FastSpring folks, and they should fix your email address (I'm not sure that I can directly alter order details).  If I'm misunderstanding and you don't yet have the key, please let me know and I'll send it to you.

Hopefully that email address that was the typo doesn't exist and thus the key wouldn't be shared with someone random.  But if you run into any such issues such as registering the key with Steam, get in contact with me and I can get you a replacement since you bought direct from us.  My main recommendation would be for your friend to register that key on Steam as soon as possible if they are intending to; and if not, there's really no issue, as we don't have any sort of server side checking of keys or anything like that.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies.

I forgot to add the '8' at the end my e-mail address on this second order and when I didn't get an order confirmation quickly, I checked and that's when I noticed that I made the mistake. My friend has his code since after it charges the card it displays the key, and we played some more of our 2 player game last night after he entered it via Steam and both our games seem fine. I was more worried about someone getting a free code or a code conflict than anything else.

Maybe we'll get lucky and whoever has the address and gets the code will buy the rest of the game out of curiosity.  ;)

That would be a fairly innovative means of promoting the game ;)
