I can't recall, but aren't Transport immune to EMP, and therefor protect their cargo allowing you to hide a response force in Transports in the same system about to get hit by an EMP?
Nope.  EMP guardians paralyse Transports.  Found out the hard way.  You can, of course, hide your fleet in transports in an adjacent system, then rush them in right after the EMP has detonated.

If you scrap the EMP'd transport, does it work?  I can't remember what we told it to do ;)

Ooh, hadn't thought of that!  I don't have time to test right now - can anyone oblige?

Yup, you're right.  Saw the paralysis immunity and forget EMP immunity is called "EMP" instead.

I'm having a bunch of Zenith Bombards with a range of 33k.
I order them to attack a AI Spire Shield Generator thingy which is protecting a bunch of Missile Frigs. According to my knowledge, i outrange the shield/its defenders.
But when i order an attack, the Zenith Bombards close in on the shield generator.

1. Why do they move nearer than 33k ?
2. is there a key to show the attack radius of a selected unit ?

- thanks

Radar Dampening strikes again! (edit: most/all AI guard posts have radar dampening, which prevents most things from firing upon it from outside that range)

I think Z+mouseover shows the attack range of a unit, and something similar shows the ranges of all selected stuff without using the mouse, but it's been a while since I sat down with it.

Z + X shows everything.  Nothing shows dampening though, and if you don't know to look for it it really hoses you up the first time you take out a bunch of artillery ships.
... and then we'll have cake.

Would someone mind explaining the mechanic behind the data center ?
Judging by the description, i believe it lowers the tech advancement of the AI, but as long as its working at decreasing the tech/mark, it will spawn more waves or more ships, though of lesser mark ?

The ratio difference between Marks isn't enough to seriously lower the ship volume for long.   Even then, facing 1000 MK I ships is better than 900 MK II.  The general idea is they can help balance out the AIP gains you're forced to take to advance into the galaxy without letting the AI get to the overwhelming stage.
... and then we'll have cake.

I'm having considerable trouble repelling a wave of 650 II Standard Fighters w/ a II Flagship ETA 2.5 Minutes.
Basicly, i tried Tractor, Grav, Minefield I together with a mix of Turrets, focusing fire on the Flagship first, but i barely survive long enough to kill the Flagship.
What would be better ? Mass Lightning Turrets ? Area Minefields ?
I kinda have no fleet in range.

I barely even notice fighters usually.  A stack of Lightning Is under Glass (FFs, 2 should be fine there, so make it 3) and a grav turret net will pretty much stop them cold.  If your station has a FF a single Flagship won't pop it before your fleet can knock it down.  Tractors are a mixed bag for me.  Eventually you need so many that they become nearly useless.  I usually use them later in the 'attack flow' to stall out fast movers or something that tried to escape the AoE bubble for a bit.
... and then we'll have cake.

Aside from the lightning turrets with glass, or MLRS turrets, what about deleting all your missile frigates-Is and IIs elsewhere and rebuilding them on the spot? Do you have engineers there?

This time I'm having trouble dealing with 650 mk2 space tanks, is there a good way to defeat them with turrets and stuff ?

In addition, i think i may have overdone it with AI progress.
Playing time is 8 hours, i have a couple of systems, unlocked some mk2 things. I have one adv factory, one mk5 youngling fab and one mk5 decoy drone fab. But I'm still a LONG way from the AI homeworlds. Progress is at 350.
Should i scrap it and try a new game ?

How do you have 350 AIP with only a few systems?

Also, don't take the Fact IV before you have something at MK III (or you need the CSG to hit a homeworld) and can use it.  You end up spending resources to protect it for no gain when you can let the AI keep it in storage for you.  Fabs are 'nice to haves', usually.  There's a couple I make sure I go after (Blade Spawner V, Bomber SS Mk IV, for an example) but in general they're just... well... there.

You... um... yeah, you sound pretty hosed there.  Were you firing off missiles like they were penny candy or something?

No no, far from it. While I'm still noob, i have roughly 30 hours of AI War in. I realize the concepts of destroying command stations only when i really need a system, trying to keep AI Progress low and stuff.
So far i didn't fire a single missile.
The 350 progress were made through a couple of station cleanings. Then i got 2 golems, cursed and armored. Then i accidently killed one co-processor. Found may 5 ressources caches and i believe 2 zenith ship holdings. When saying a few system, i think i have maybe 8 to 10 systems, with another 5 or 6 mostly neutered (i.e. everything including warp gate killed, command station left). I may have been forced to kill 1 or 2 BHGs, too. And i think i lost zenith power plant.

EDIT: Just checked. I own 10 system, AI would be 406 but is reduced by 60, probably server farms i got. I got 18k unused knowledge though.
