Author Topic: Two questions about the faber Warbird, and that shot absorber with 1M hp  (Read 1365 times)

What are really some good uses of the warbird overall in this game that you've found, it hits pretty hard, speed is good, but uses, i find myself hard to place with just being able to build 3 of them. But, the other, the shot absorber with the hp, holy frack is it amazing! It does go down fast under fire overall, but makes a super shield for approaching with massive units or multi-shot types and having your pricey units make it out just peachy. (I dont recall the name though, I think it had decoy or something in the name) but dang, i loved it, and i found it right nextjump to an ai homeworld, (and make taking the place a breeze, i lost maybe 200 ships with them shutting down the capital ships and turrets. Darn you sniper turrets!) But how big is the range overall they cover? and any advice if layering them is a good idea?

I believe the range of the decoy drone is stated in its tooltip in the latest betas, but I could be wrong.  It's a fairly large range (I think 10k or 15k, of the top of my head).  Layering them will work just fine, no worries on that at all.  Same general dynamic as with force fields.

For the warbirds, I honestly can't remember off the top of my head what their niche is, they're rare and haven't come up in many of my games.  But I seem to recall they were really fast and generally quite powerful, so presumably raiding would be a good niche.  But I imagine others could also answer better than I did, my brain is fried at the moment.  :P

warbirds had a role to play before hitpoints for ai command stations were increased - in my game i had 12 units and 6 of them could kill a station with one shot. so i used two groups to leapfrog through enemy systems and neutralize the planets - entering cloaked and running away from the warp point due to the tachyon emitter and then busting the station with one salvo. now you can only use them to kill off the guardposts - one salvo of one warbird is usually enough.
