Wow, havent been on these forums in, what, 3 years? Damn.
Anyway, got back into AI War a while ago, and played a game with one of the new units, the torpedo frigate. It's a decent unit, but I soon realized something about it.
The torpedoes are transportable.
An Idea sparked, and I parked my complement of torp-frigs off to the side on my side of a bottleneck system, next to a couple of transports. Anytime an AI ship would come through, I would select all the spawned torpedoes, and load them into the transports. Rinse and repeat until I had 6 full transports.
You can see where this is going. Lets just say that throwing one at a blob of Threat parked on the other side of the wormhole resulted in hilarity.
Now, I don't this is unbalanced, as the massive amounts of microing and hassle make this impractical at best, and still not as powerful as a simple MK I lightning warhead.
Or maybe the hassle just makes it all the more satisfying to watch as you unleash a 4-600-strong blob of white hot electrified fury upon your enemies.
Thoughts?
