: The derpiest campaign ever
: Alex Heartnet April 23, 2014, 08:31:07 PM
So ! started a campaign!  I was up until the middle of the night with no clue what I was doing (what memo?), and well...I think I might of poked the bear too hard.

I'm not even fighting anything special, mostly standard rookie settings.
Diff 6 Mine Enthusiast/Diff 6 Thief
Single homeworld, player+champion
First 4 expansions enabled
A bunch of 1/10 and 2/10 minor factions, nothing game shaking.

Highlights include:

- 5 hours in with an AI Progress of 235, with a threat of ~2,500
- The entirety of three whole systems under my control
- An AI that is just as derpy as I am with an ADD threatfleet that gets sidetracked by Dyson Gatlings
- A whole bunch of empty systems between me and the AI, with the nearest warp gate being 3 systems away from me

I honestly have no clue what I was doing, and no clue what I am doing.  It definitely feels like I have all the resources required to win, but I have no idea how to apply them correctly.  At least I haven't died yet, so there's that at least.

If you have military ships more than 4 hops from an allied planet, the AI starts creating threat.  That is called Deepstrike Threat, which is what that pink message is warning you about.  This is to make sure that the player has to take a few planets, even if they only act as stepping stones.  Scouts and other non-combat vessels do not count as a deepstrike.

To clarify, I believe that deep strike is caused by having ships 4 hops or greater from the nearest neutral or allied world. Mostly as a measure to stop extremely low AIP games. The picture shows that your deep strike is caused from your combat ships being in Noarkmel which is well outside that limit. When you're deepstriking the AI will continuously generate threat ships at their homeworlds until your ships go back to a planet within 3 hops of a neutral/allied planet or your units die(scrapped).
