Some starting questions

I've just started playing AI war (like a week or so), and I have 2 questions about things that a lot of people seem to know how to do already.

1. How do scrap ships and buildings that you don't need?

2. How does TBS pause work, and how can I activate it?

1. Delete, then Y to confirm.

2. I believe there's an option for it under the settings menu.  It basically allows you to give orders while paused.  P pauses the game.
