Siege starships - what do they shoot at?

So far, I have only seen siege starships shoot at enemy guardians that are not behind the force field.

They do not shoot forcefields and guard posts (which they SHOULD do, judging by their description).

I'm playing 4.066 with no expansions, and siege starships are mark I.

Siege starships were recently changed to no longer do damage to force fields. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what they're useful for now.

They are excellent against enemy starships, golems, hybrids (assuming hybrid FFs are not immune to antimatter bombs), guard posts (if you get them in range, they have radar dampening 7000 now), spireships, fortresses (they now outrange AI fortresses slightly IIRC).

Really, they should probably also be able to shoot spire fleetships.

Ships have to be within the radar dampening range to be able to shoot at the target. Basically shortens the range of any ship attacking it.
