Selling Captured Structures

Suddenly discovered the awesome strategy of capturing a planet with some bonus structures worth over a million, then salvaging it after capture or temporary use.  MK3 ion cannons are a heaven-send when you're low on resources, and it's not too useful after insta-killing remaining turrets, especially if you have adjacent enemy planets that can send you the multiplied waves.

A MK3 ion cannon is instantly worth 320K!
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

I thought you would have.  :O

320K early game is perhaps the best mechanism for players to capture and expand really early, while allowing them to rebuild lost bombers and such.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

Just recently we were in a game where the AI had a mark 4 ion cannon in a system that really didn't help us to keep it around. The cannon is so expensive that selling it is 500k of both mineral and crystal, which is absolutely massive early game.

Also, I don't know how the damage scales with the selling price (assuming it's .HP% * $), but if that's the case, you should always repair a damaged ion cannon as it doesn't cost much resources (14/s for III?).

I got a Mk IV cannon, but it was deep in my safe territory and useless to me. Scrapped it. Bam! maxed out resources :)

And I used the new resources to shop from teh trader ^^

Just a FYI, you don't need the resources required to build the structure.

Since you max at 600k and some structures cost 1million.

But early in the game I do build 2 zgen's deep in my territory, to prevent increased waves. After I place both I pause the construction since they'll eat up my economy.
After controlling like 8-10 planets I go back to building them. Since I got enough resources to build zgens quickly and repair units. Also that's about time when I need the extra power.

Lol ya, I tend to start in duo worlds.
I sometimes pretend my people are the people from vandread. Makes it somewhat more humorous.

Also the ship cap was a bit difficult for me when I first played, but now it was just a habit of selecting two planets.

Just wait until you capture a system with a Mk5, a Mk4, and a Mk3 Ion Cannon. :D
(There are a couple of those systems in the game CogDissident and I are playing)

We actually had to work out ways for us to intentionally "blow" as much money as possible as quickly as possible to not waste quite so many resources.
