[NOT A BUG IGNORE ME] Bombers vs Fortresses
« on: November 07, 2009, 09:23:09 am »
Just encountered a fortress in my newest game. I took a bunch of bombers to attack it. They have a damage bonus against the fortress as they should, but it seems the fortress itself is so large that, at the closest they can get, they have a ~20% chance to hit. I believe this is a bug. I had to take the fortress down with turrets, as bombers could not hit it effectively enough to take it down.

EDIT: This is in 2.0 by the way, if that makes any difference.

I think that you need bombers with higher Mark level.

To get better hits I guess you will need Mark III since then they have small jump in attack range.

Yes, I was thinking about that since I posted. Fortresses display a mk IV tech level, so I guess I need at least mk III bombers to take them down well  :-[

Nah,

a mix of MkI and II Bombers are quite sufficient to bring down the tubby [thing]. Just be sure to come in numbers as the fortress has a large firepower and will take down many of your bombers if you do not manage to take it out quickly. Best to bring along some escort and cannonfodder.

Good luck! :)
