My turrets are useless vs Mark III. (2.001ZA)

I just started a zenith expansion game with version 2.001ZA  and I placed some turrets around the 2 wormholes on my home world, one of the first groups to come in was a markIII bomber and mark III grenade launch, my turrets ignored them even as they blasted them and their repairing engineers to pieces, some mark 1's came in in the mean time and they destroyed them easily but even when i grouped them with my mouse I couldn't manually target the mark III's.   Was using mark I MLRS & Standard turrets.   My mark II tractor turrets targeted them and held them in place fine till the lone bomber destroyed them..

Can someone post a savegame with this?  I strongly suspect that the turrets are unable to hit those bombers because they are out of range given their shields, or something of that sort, but I can't say for sure.  It would depend on the positioning of the bomber relative to the turrets, since the turrets themselves have high range -- but the mark III bomber shields are also quite high.  I suspect in this specific case, this is working as intended, but without a savegame I can't be positive.

Much appreciated -- when you are looking at it, if you select the turrets and then hover over the enemy bomber, check what the hit percent chance is in the hover text.  Probably it is 0%, which would mean it's simply out of range given it's shields.  More info on that here: http://arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Do_Shots_Miss

You're quite correct.  A few grenade launch mark I's came in w/ shield boosters and the same thing occured w/ 0% hit chance.   Sorry to bother you ><.

No problem at all!  That makes good sense, those shield boosters are trouble in that scenario.  If you place a couple of turrets literally right next to the wormhole, then they should be close enough to hit the bombers in that situation even when they are shield boosted.  Anything within about 500 pixels of space has at least a 5% chance of hitting its target, which is why mobile units can get close and hit them unaided.  I'm going to move this to the strategy discussion forum, because I imagine it will be helpful to other players, too.  Thanks for bringing it up!
