I'm too late, but once against a superfortress I simply parked a mobile repair station with tugs in a corner of the map and let rip with mk1-2 bombers (and a raid ship I think, this was back when raid ships owned). The bombers would do their thing and be pulled away when they are too damaged. It took about 20 mins but I only lost about 30 ships in all.

build several overlapping MKIII shields

send them through the wormhole

start building one of the structures that has super high priority to the AI inside

when the superfort starts attacking the shields, counter attack with everything

fly in a mobile builder via transport, and set a mega load of turrets building way off the edge of the map, especially higher MK beam turrets. pump in engineers to get them built fast.

superfort will slowly fly over and then impail itself

I dont know if this will work since they fixed the close-to-zero range bug for forts and superforts.

Superfortresses are hillariously weak against bomber type ships, requiring multiple volleys to even kill a Mk I bomber.  Of course, bombers have troubles of their own because of it's shields, but you definately have the advantage.  While it's a pain, it's usually best to try to rid the system of as much stuff as possible, and then just stick a huge number of bombers on it.

Once we have the entourage thing working, those fortresses will collect a group of ships to guard them, which will help make them more formidable by association again. :)

Hows that entourage stuff going?  Can we expect it 'real soon now'?  *hops up and down*

Oh, to be a 6yr old again... ;)

Edit:  Is that going to be a strictly AI behavior?

I don't think it will make it into the next official release, because of the desync stuff has taken precedence (but there's a ton of other cool stuff, as you know, in this official).  This official is coming quicker on the heels of the last, so that makes less time for testing out a major thing like the entourage stuff.  But soon!

guards for superfortress? well, i guess we have to suicide some fighters and frigates to kill those anti bomber ships away. but using tugs since they're awesome now is a great idea.

If you can, pick the Zenith ships that deal damage based on shields or energy -- those are massively effective.
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

well you could lure it to an worm hole preferbly cleared by electric shuttles :D but once it cleared set up an beach head then yust spam boombers through the worm hole then use the sheilds to stop it killing the turrets  if it decides to go back.
AI War - even the smallest units can make all the difference no matter how weak they are still quite capable of taking the hits. if it can Kill and receive damage then it worth its time other wise if it cant kill and cant take the damage for the higher surviving ships then it is worthless.

While I realise this hasn't been posted in for a long time, it's one of the first results on google when trying to find out how to beat superfortresses, so seems like a reasonable place to put this information. A good way I've discovered, which I haven't seen documented anywhere, is to use the Spire rams.  Two mark 2 ones appear to destroy all the fortress's hit points. Of course, you need an appropriate asteroid first, and then can't use it for anything else, but if you accept that then it's a lot easier than nibbling away at it with bombers.

Build Mark >= II Needler Turrets to destroy the Super Fortress and Missile and Sniper Turrets to keep the planet clear. Also build other turrets to protect the Missile and Sniper Turrets. You can also build a Force Field behind the Missile and Sniper Turrets and their protectors to protect Rebuilders, Engineers and Mobile Builders.

This will be added here soon.

EDIT:
Like this.
