Lost and confused.

I am trying to learn how to play AI Wars, and have run into a roadblock. I am at the point where I want to attack the AI home worlds, but I cannot damage the guard posts. The wiki says I need to take out core shield generators, and those are on planets with advanced research stations, but I have taken two of those planets already and have not seen a shield generator. I have explored the entire map, and selecting the shield gens from the search filter shows me none. The objectives menu just says to kill the AI command station (I cannot because the guard posts are still up), and the galaxy menu lists no AI plot (I though this was supposed to list the stage I was on in attacking the AI?).

I am playing a very easy game, so I can take whatever I need at will, I just need to know what to do. Screenshots of whatever menus needed upon request. If you need more info let me know where to get it, as I am still lost in all the menus.

Welcome to the forums and to the game!  Sorry about the confusion, not sure what's going on.  There's probably a CSG hiding somewhere, trying to look like a small dog.

The best way for someone to take a look and see what's going on is for them to look at your savegame.  You can upload it with a post here (click on "Additional Options..." below the post textbox, then Browse, etc; the savegames are in the RuntimeData/Save/ directory of your AIW installation)

Ok, I loaded the game and was able to attack the core posts and destroyed one.  When you get ships in range and give the attack order against one, what happens?

The Guard posts? I moved My entire fleet into the base and they did not do anything, even when they were within range. Or did you mean CSG?

I mean the Core Guard Posts.  Not the AI Home Command Station itself.

If you can't attack the Core Guard Posts, can you post a save where you have ships in range and you've tried to attack it but can't?  That way I can make sure we're talking about the same thing.

It's possible that the problem is some bug that's been fixed in the beta versions, as that save appears to be from the official version (7.001).  But I don't recall there being a bug like _this_ in the official, as that would be pretty blocking.

Ok I can kill it now. I do not know what was going on earlier. I tried attacking it for 30 min earlier in the game and could not get it to work. Thanks for the help.

Odd, yea, that it didn't work before.  Probably CSG-related (btw, you can turn those off in the lobby for your next game, many players do).  Anyway, glad it's working for you now
