No problem! Regarding the mobile builders, those can indeed be put in transports.  Regarding advanced research stations, those are considered too large to fit -- like starships, basically.

Regarding the password requirements, that's just the default of SMF now, I think.  I didn't set anything unusual on the password requirements that I recall.  They may have changed that in later versions of SMF due to the risk of bots trying to brute force their way into forum accounts, would be my guess.

Yay for mobile builders, lol. I have not recently zoomed in to see the size of the advanced research stations so forgive me. :P I guess I'll have to use regular ones.

20 regular science labs in a transport, with 50ish ships that are good area the super-fast ships (frigates, tanks are awesome).

Get way out off the map, unpack, let the tanks/etc pop the raptors, repack, move on.

Why 20? Because with 20 of them you can build K so fast you can even K raid against ion cannons.

I find I get to about 1200 just before the first ion cannon rounds arrive, you repack into transport then unpack again once the ion shots expire. Finish the second half, repack, move on. All in less time than it takes for anything your protection can't single-shot to arrive.

Easy.

I've been wondering how k-raiding works now that there is a slow down radius the further out you go. As long as the transport is still in supply it won't take damage from that change but I'm wondering if it will still work with the slow down radius change.

Cloaker starships are great but you still need to clear out the wormhole a bit to safe guard your labs because I've had a few that had the tendency to go in the opposite direction as the cloaker starship once they exited the wormhole. With fast micro it can be done but I was only doing it with a single lab which I later lost because of tractor beams or engine damage. There was a lot of stuff around the exit so I couldn't tell what was going on but I couldn't move my lab back to cover in time. I suppose I could have moved the cloaker starship back to cover it but there were a lot of units around it and I didn't think it would have stayed in place to save it.

For kicks and giggles the other day, I loaded 200 science labs into a transport and went knowledge raiding... then forgot to get supply from the adjacent world, which led to a quick build orbital ;)

It was fun to see 400 K/s show up though  8)

I can imagine,though it takes a lot of energy with that many.  ;D

Seems it would be more reliable then micro'ing labs as they exit a wormhole to make sure they stay near the cloak starship, though maybe sticky formation would fix that for me since they randomly set off on their own and get blasted if I'm not quick enough.

One of my AI's on the game I'm focusing on right now loves Zenith Bombardments. Like LOVES them. To the point of having 150+ on any planet they own. This makes knowledge raiding more or less impossible for me with the new slowdown unless I use a ridiculous number of transports, because their bombs blow right through shields, they have massive range, there's no anti-energy-bomb, and the planets I'd raid are at least Mark III so it's way too much effort to destroy them all. Not to mention that those things are pretty devastating to transports.

Would this be a situation to use the mark two science lab? I just don't know when I'd ever want to use them. If thats not enough to help k-raid on those kinds of planets then the only other alternative is sticky formations with Cloaker starships and cheap science labs you can afford to replace.

Depending on how many ships you're willing to lose or if you have high tier forcefields, either send a big fleet and some FFIIIs through and then have your science labs go thru under their cover, or sned a few decoy transports to draw the AI's fire in one direction, then dump another few transports with 20-30 science labs on the planet and have them run the other way, preferably with a cloaking starship onboard so you don't have to worry about the AI seeing you and killing your labs.Really, unless you're late game and have a high tier, built up world to raid, I'd just use the decoy transports running the opposite direction strategy, as even without cloakers, if you micro loading and unloading you should be able to get the knowledge fairly easily.

My typical recipe is 1 transport + 4 mrkII research stations (just like the survivability) + 1 cloaker starship.

Pack in the transport, move through the wormhole, move away from attackers, unpack, everything gets cloaked including the transport.  Later, pack up and move on.

I've raided literally 7 or 8 planets in a row this way, without ever returning to a friendly planet.

Why didn't I think of that..  Learn something new and cool all the time it seems. 8) Thanks for sharing the insight guys, community participation is one of this game's greatest features.

hmm id have to say that this thread actually kinda took some of the fun of knowledge raiding away. its basically just a bit of micromanagement and u get all the knowledge you need  :-\
