EMP-proofing via transport?

Okay, not sure if this was a bug or a feature, and if a feature, I'm not sure which feature it was.

Had ships in a transport. Had transport cloaked by a cloaker. Had an EMP detonate in system.

IF I recall correctly, the transport and cloaker were both paralyzed and uncloaked (although coulda been a scout that was uncloaked, and cloaker was okay...)

Anyway, transport was definitely blinky red, but to my surprise still able unload units, and to my double surprise, the units were rarin' to go. So my working theory is that you can hide in transports in a pinch to avoid an EMP (I kind of doubt this will ever arise defensively again, but has obvious uses on offense; I'd always waited in a neighboring system when EMPing somebody). So, is this true?

Oh yes, this is how it works and it's intended that way.  Though I thought transports themselves were EMP-immune, maybe not.

Wow, sweet. That effectively adds about 20 usable seconds to my EMP timers.

(Still not entirely clear on when best situation to use EMPs in the first place, however... seems like most worlds worth the hassle are core worlds that are rarely affected much, with one or two notable exceptions having arisen so far.)

I use EMPs in otherwise unassailable planets, like the one that had a Mk. II, III and IV Ion cannon. Also, I occasionally use them to stop massive numbers of ships that are on the attack to let my shredders nom.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

If you leave a mid-hight Mk planet on alert and forget about it for ages they can help get you out of a bind. Stuff like that.

They're there to help get you out of stalemate situations, really.

Huh.  Never would've guessed, just thinking about it thematically instead of thinking about it from a gameplay point of view.  If the transports themselves aren't immune to EMPs, I would've assumed that while they're affected by an EMP, their mechanism for loading/unloading ships would be disabled, too.  Screw it, from a gameplay point of view, too, considering how when other ships are paralyzed they can't do anything, I assumed transports couldn't, either, including loading/unloading ships.

If they aren't explicitly immune to EMPs, that could probably stand to be more discoverable, whether listed in their description or a "tip of the day" thing or something else, because that seems like pretty non-standard (but very useful!) behavior compared to most units.
