Not sure what you mean by "send ship quickly", but rally posts aren't too hard to master.

1] Mobile rally post

Build it, and then send it to the location you want ships to move to (and it's only now occurred to me that they might be able to traverse wormholes). When ships arrive on the planet, then they'll move to the rally post and stop there as if you'd issued a move command the moment they entered the system.

1] Redirector rally post

Build it, then use just as you'd use a factory to set a rally location. As soon as ships enter the system they'll travel to the rally location. Just like factories, you can use V + Right-click to put them into FRD mode on arrival.

There's also some neat work being done on auto-garrisons, if you want worlds to automatically keep a certain amount of ships present in system, or set up patrols with redirection posts if you have lots of ships slipping through. Combine with FRD and it should, in theory work quite well at hunting down the occasional raiding fleet that retreats into your economic systems.

I actually thought about the rally posts. Isnt the mobile one rather obselete ?
The immobile allows you to set ships in "mode"(attack/defend), it allows a convenient construction where you want, it allows cross-planet patrols. What use does the mobile one have, instead of the visual confirmation that that is the place ships will go to ?

Mobile ones can travel through wormholes, so I can have reclaimed ships go where I want them to go! If I want patrols I'll use redirectors, and if I want a static gather point that's easy to spot I'll use mobile posts.

The last I understand, personal preference.
The second is, imo, one of the main benefits of the immobile one.
But what do you mean with the first? An immobile one can be set to other planets, and I assume you send reclaimed ships to your own planets...

Anyway, my question got answered, more or less, they are there cause of preference :)

You can send them with your fleet, meaning, when you are attacking an AI planet, you can put the Rally Post somewhere on that planet along with your fleet. This has several advantages, like being able to have a "recall point" for your fleet or having a place for reclaimed and/or repaired ships to go if you have Parasites and/or MRS's. Or to keep a main "center" point of action, so if you were to say, send your fighters off to attack something, you could issue an attack move order and they will return to post once they have completed their task.

But on some tutorials I saw that I can send ships into the rally post and then it will pop up at another rally post. Did the function of the rally post changed?
