How to counter Electric Shuttle?
« on: January 16, 2010, 07:33:26 am »
How do you counter a wave of 80 electric shuttles? Especially when there are Mark IVs mixed in there? Every time I encounter them, I just see a mass of lightning, and then all my ships are dead.

Forcefields - move your forcefield with your ships - you do less damage, but you'll survive

Though i am glad i never have seen a mass e-shuttle raid

High level turrets generally both outrange them and usually have enough hps to survive a few hits from the group.

Send a few "spotter" ships to trigger them then move in on the disabled shuttles!
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

this mostly. Unfortunately, with fast and furious game mode, its harder than it looks.

since the ai doenst have controll of the unit firing capibilitys (low power) the electric shuttles wont wait for the bulk of your units to come close to them yust send 1 tank or realy high or strong against electric shuttles  to take the hits of all of them and dieing in the process. you send in you units to shoot then retreat then repeate. this is one of the biggest things in the game I've seen with ships as most wont advoid in shooting you to get an clear advantage in the battle. it is micro management but it well worth it as with 1 key press you can hold off you attack untill the full force of the enemy is close then you can start attack. this also works with the eye bot. as you can have the eye bots(hope I'm right) as an permanent scout on the planet. or the charmelions to stop attacking so they can break through the tractor beams. this also works with clocking units to get them out of tractor beams. this is one of the best features of the game and i hope they dont change it as if people realize and uttilze it effectivly then thier is an huge advantage in it as in flanking then sending in hard hitters or the softer targets eg micro fighters after the space tanks taken the hits and i hope the chris has put this in place as an giant an main stragedy in the game and i applaud him for this. as this promotes the best stradegys with minimal micromangement with controling your units movement or firing vai low power. and hope you be able to apply all aspect of the game like what you done thier with ai not able to control units firing on an individual level. keep this flaw if you wish to call it that but it one of the best aspect in electric shuttles i love about. both enemy and freindly
AI War - even the smallest units can make all the difference no matter how weak they are still quite capable of taking the hits. if it can Kill and receive damage then it worth its time other wise if it cant kill and cant take the damage for the higher surviving ships then it is worthless.

soMe_RandoM,

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but could you try to put your thoughts into paragraphs and separate sentences?   I'm sure we all appreciate your contributions to the forums, but it makes it a lot easier on everyone involved to have people's contributions laid out in clear easy to read posts.

(Note I do see that you are using some punctuation, and it's appreciated, but for example, the previous post does come across as a giant wall of text!)

Thanks!   And welcome to the forums!   ;D
