First AI War Game, need a little advise...
« on: October 20, 2010, 05:26:03 pm »
So i played the whole Tutorial and began my first campaing angainst the AI. I created a Campaing with 20 Planets. Up till now i own about 7-8 Planets can produce 2 ships up to Tier-IV and 3 up to T-II the Rest T-I. Today i wanted to kick the AI's ass on their Home Planet. But hey...as i arrived there about 3500 Tier-V(Core) Ships where Waiting for my bunch of 2000 Ships. Think what.. i killed about 300-400 at the wormhole i entered and my whole Army got destroyed. The AI Progress ist at 300. so my Question is....what did i do wrong in this game? I don't think i'll be ever capable of Defeating the AI on this Planet. Thanks for your Advice

Don't alert the AI home planets too early: if you park a big fleet right next to their home, or take the planet next to their home, you wind up with a situation like this.  20 planet maps are also pretty hard, I'd suggest 40 planets so that you can get more knowledge and such to get more ships by the time you face them.

Welcome to the forums!

Chris pretty much covered it,  my first thought was that you parked outside the AI homeworld and left it on alert for a hour or so...

Oh, you might want to cruise by the sticky  post on the main AI war forum regarding profanity;  we try to keep posts around the PG-13 level here.  Your post isn't really TOO bad, but some are sensitive to the 'r' word.

Other than that, welcome!   Hope Chris's comment helps for your next game!.   Oh and as far as cracking the home world, you can probably still do it with EMP missiles and lightning missiles.

Check out the following thread:  http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,7275.0.html

It has some youtube videos outlining such a strategy.

Hey Thanks fpr your Quick answers. I just began to love this game. It has some of the RTS Elements i am pretty fond of. The Supreme Commander like Unit Production and it has some sort of Homeworld and many other RTs Games.

Hmm ok so the enemy produces more Units to defend when i occupy a planet next to the homeworld? That would describe the vast amount of ships there, because the planet next to that world was a pretty early expansion of mine. I'll think  i just start over with a bigger map to get e better grip of the game. Thx

PS: i edited my starting post in case of profanity :)

By the way -- everything is pretty much different in the upcoming 4.0 version that comes out on Monday (it's a free update).  It's shifted the balance around so that you won't run into quite that situation anymore, but the planets in the interim will be more interesting, etc.
