stellar-database altplanetnames.txt (~17k names)
« on: October 20, 2012, 06:46:26 pm »
I ran a database dump from stellar-database and did some basic SQL and filtering to give you all this altplanetnames.txt :)

These are real names. Unfortunately, most of them are not "friendly" to look at, but seeing as this is AI War I feel they fit. (an example: "CPD -63°49")

Here's the list!

However, it does not seem to work right! I made sure to encode it in ANSI, with windows line endings (CR+LF). However, AIWar is ignoring some characters in here not on a QWERTY keyboard - but they are all ASCII-printable. Symbols such as 0xA7 (°). I know there are a few more like 0x94 (ö) however they are rare enough that I can't be certain if they work.

Is there not some way to get these to work? These are standard ASCII printables, they should all work.

Thanks to Radiant Phoenix for catching this for me...

It seems to work just fine in UTF-8 format!

Here's the re-encoded file. ENJOY! 17,953 names.
