My massive altplanetnames.txt (33138 names)
« on: July 08, 2012, 05:18:03 am »
Updated version http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,12887.0.html

So here's the altplanetnames.txt I use. I used name generators on some websites, made a batch file to generate the "code names" or whatever and put together the other altplanetnames.txts.

EDIT: I made 2 name lists. The other one (nocodenames) doesn't have codes names such as "SHC-623", "REM G15-44", "dXg-106_11880!-OX IX", "LV-235", "AS4130", "4-CP_6520". Similar code names can be hard to tell apart to say/write in multiplayer and to remember.
"altplanetnames (33138 names).txt"
"altplanetnames - nocodenames (27849 names).txt"

http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,1530.0.html EDIT: Actually added these names. Apparently they weren't in the list before.

Thanks for the name lists guys.

Thanks to http://textop.us/Lines-tools/Delete-Duplicate-Lines for removing duplicate lines.

You probably wont see the same name twice. There are few jackpots at the bottom of the list. If you ever get them take a screenshot and post it here.

Updated!
..and improved. Not "improved" by just adding names but also by removing stupid/annoying names. (Names similar to Jesus007, brown boxers, vv0NkY wAfFLe.(Those weren't in the list. But the ones I removed were as stupid/annoying))

I learned a few text manipulation tricks while creating my faux/real Greek/Roman names list (PLUG!), so I messed with your list some:

- removed trailing spaces on names that had trailing spaces
- removed 4258 duplicates
- sorted alphabetically (a side effect of culling the dupes, sorry)

Looks like you have some "irritating" planet names left (including a ton named something like "dXg-89_20655!-OX XII" and "FS65009"), but hey, that's up to personal taste and the rename button is right there in the AI War GUI.

Your updated list: http://pastebin.com/dHFsFJsg

Yay thanks! I'm going to use that^^

Good point.
I guess 2 similar code names are hard to tell apart for some people. I kinda like them though.
Anyway. I'm going to make a name list without those and add it in the first post.[/s]

Ok. I added the nocodenames version. I also cleaned the name list a bit more (removed some names).
I ended up using my old file and removing duplicates with http://textop.us/Lines-tools/Delete-Duplicate-Lines. Making the noncodenames version was impossible because the lines were sorted alphabetically.
