Title: GFX Mod: Alternate Transport Ship Sprite

Oh yes... install, extract transport ship rar in your AI War directory, back up the images/ships/transport Ship directory first.

Same style as Colony Ship replacement here -> http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,2653.0.html

- No animations, 3 frames are identical
- Working color mask
- non-symmetric to some extend

ingame shot shows them both next to each other with size comparision ;)

how, I used paint but it shows the white around the picture, plus I have no idea how to get the color mask to work.

Not with paint (thats not even a real app!) ;p
With Photoshop ;D

Also, i didn't draw these, i rendered them from a 3d model and then just fine-tuned them, the alpha map is done automatically when rendering it in 3d (its a simple option) ;)

If you wanted to really make your own, you have to
1) learn literally painting/drawing pixel art in photoshop with transparency as base
or
2) learn a 3D-App of your choice, learn how to create shaders, textures, light setups, gi/ao settings and HDRI Maps and of course, you have to model the "sprite" too ;p

Basically, its not easy to make new.. even half-way decent sprites. I am 3d-artist and i stand in awe at the detail level of the golems, the current pixel artist for arcen games is immensely skilled, i am just fixing things that weren't renewed.

As for colormask.png - Its simply the elements of the sprite that the game colors itself - full transparency is obviously needed since png's do not work with a alpha channel

two things;

1) that looks AMAZING

2) that looks much more like a fast starship - a raid starship maybe - than a transport

Well you can copy it to overwrite whatever ship you wish ;p I kinda suck at making transports ^^

Well, there's really only one thing that's required of a transport. It should look like it has a lot of space inside. ;)

This one would make a nice beam weapon starship, me thinks.  :) Or a replacement for Raid starship.

In that case, all you need is a ginormous flying warehouse with some engines on it :P

I always thought of the transports as the Spacing Guild Heighliners from Dune..

Think about that, you are in a train with a hole to space but theres absolute vacuum and 0 gravity in it. If the train would stop suddenly, then that would be very unhealthy for you since you'd not stop until you hit a wall (and even then you would rebound back ,p)

This is why nobody wants to fly around in a cabin when a spaceship accelerates or de-accelerates, doesn't even matter if theres air.

So without foundation its likely that you will be flying out the hole where there is no foundation the moment velocity changes ^^

Fine, use the same stuff as the walls to make a floor. No need to make a foundation in space though.  :P

If you put on the brakes (say, 3% speed reduction) on normal orbital velocity ie. 7.7km per second then that means if you hit the breaks theres no arm attached to you anymore to hold on to something with :D Better strap in tight in some water or other liquid tank.  ;D ;D

Ah yeah, one just gotta love space travel.
