Tunngle (Hamachi like, but better)
« on: December 31, 2009, 03:07:18 pm »
Hi, I noticed you guys use hamachi to play and wanted to tell you about Tunngle, it's a vpn program like hamachi but the networking is way better, on some games where you can't find the game on the list using hamachi it shows up just fine on Tunngle. There's a room for each game with a limit of 255 online at the same time so there won't be a problem of it getting full like with hamachi, at least for now. I asked on their forum yesterday to create a room for AI War and its created there, so use it if you want :P It's the best program now IMO to play LAN games.

EDIT: forgot the link

Furthermore Hamachi chucks me out of AI War at the 62 second mark, every time, whereas I've played for hours several times now via Comodo EasyVPN.

You know what's even better than either of those programs? Properly port forwarding like you're supposed to in the first place :P

Unfortunately, some of us are either lazy, or don't have admin access to their router (curse you, paranoid parents...)

Agreed re port forwarding but I've not found anyone with a machine powerful enough to host and possess the knowledge to punch a hole through their own router.

Well, with games like AI Wars where you need to know the Host's Public IP address, VPN's like Tungle, Hamachi, or Comodo make it much much easier to get a group of folks together connecting to each other.

Ask me? Core i7 @3 GHz and perfectly knowledgable. Have played several MP games. ;)

However, Tunngle sounds great. Rooms are perfect for picking up random peeps for a game.
