No luck, I still get a connection timed out message even after disabling the proxy.  We might just have to communicate through email or some other medium until we start the game.

It's also possible that IRC is being blocked somewhere upstream of you, either at the port or protocol level. Some ISPs will do that as it is a commonly abused service.

Thats what I was thinking. My ISP back home blocks Bit Torrent over the standard ports, so I gotta tunnel through other ports.

Yeah the game works fine, as does my internet connection.  i have no trouble surfing the web, downloading stuff.  I am currently living in an apartment in Rome, so I don't know the service provider as the internet is wireless provided and maintained by the landlord.  Everything works, if you want I will be up for a while, if you want to do a test game you an email me and we can set something up.

Hrm... it's possible all non-standard ports are blocked or something to stop people torrenting if it's wireless.

I guess the other things not mentioned are make sure it's trying to connect to your correct network (wireless and/or vpns cause problems with this since the game binds to the wrong adaptor). Goto "Network Connections", then the "Advanced" menu, then the "Advanced Settings" item, then find the network connection you're connected through (probably Wireless Network Connection) and make sure it's moved to the top of the list with the arrow things on the right.

The other thing is to turn off the windows firewall (if you've got it turned on), then try again.

Turns out I'm busy after 4, so we either have to only play 2 hours, or I'm not in. :(

I could try that, but I have Windows Vista so I am not sure how I would that

Will do. Grab teamspeak and set it up. I will email you the ip so we can use voice to get you into the game itself.

I sent you the sad email that we were not able to get together and play today. I will ask around and post plans. I think we probably will try again next saturday.

I am sure I can do that unless something unexpected comes up between now and then.

I would also like to play if there is a place for me. I'm GTM+1, but have lots of free time during next two weeks.
