New player -> Looking for a weekend game
« on: December 01, 2009, 12:41:10 pm »
Hey there folks, I am a rather new guy to the whole AI war front, and I am looking to get together with some awesome people and fight an epic war.. Or something like that.

Really, its kinda more to learn the ropes, seeing as I've really only done short games with myself.
At the time of writing, I've got plenty of time after classes (say, past 7 or so, eastern time), and I usually can stay till 1am or so my time..
Weekends are rather empty, so perhaps that would be the best option?

Also, a side note, are games usually done via a voice server of some sort? I find it incredibly hard to properly coordinate fleets and type at the same time >.<
I know steam has voice, but its rather meh quality, does the comodo thing have voice?

Anyway, yea... I suppose post here if you want to play?

Well, based off the rather nonexistent response here (note; this is why i said the forums are rarely visited >.< ) i am going to assume nobody at all is interested?

I recommend that you visit our IRC network instead--generally the forum is less responsive in comparison to the IRC channel.  Games are always more easily found on IRC!

#rtsnet => #aiwar

Good luck!

Yes, well..

Problem is, I could probably sit all day in irc and say "anyone up for a game?" and still get about the same response.. I would think that this would be more of a scheduled event and less of a 'yea sure lets get a game together', seeing as games of AI wars could take upwards of 10 hours to finish (at least from my experience)

Unfortunately I still think IRC is better in comparison to here on the forums in finding games--despite being rather spontaneous and disorganized that you say.

I imagine the "up for game?" type of gathering is more convenient than having to calculate the timezones, spending time to post up the offering, etc.

well yousee, as an eve player, I manage time conversions and shit across many timezones..

but generally, the idea was to gauge interest.. 'weekend' is a rather long time, and managing timezones can come after I know what times people are in and such.....

Anyway, if someone wants to play a game *right now* or later tonight/tomorrow, do hop on irc or something and yell really loudly so i can hear you..

Well I would join your game. Weekend sounds good, you can always get together people of whatever timezones. I used to have a 3player game, but the other 2 lost interest and it's now game over :-\

I can't find you right now on the IRC channel. Else, I'd have yelled really really loud, but I don't want to wake up the channel^^ (it's really quite in there)

Right now, I dont have time. But we could get something started tomorrow or this evening, depending on timezones. Or we can start the game later. I think the most important thing right now is getting the players together who are interested.

I hope youre still interested, just reply or pm me so we can discuss details such as a schedule.

I'd be interested in a game. I'm a bit like you, sleeping whenever and generally available. We're also pretty close geographically, so low pings for what it's worth.
I added you on steam but it says you're ignoring me.

if you able to do weekends then I'm up for it >:D
AI War - even the smallest units can make all the difference no matter how weak they are still quite capable of taking the hits. if it can Kill and receive damage then it worth its time other wise if it cant kill and cant take the damage for the higher surviving ships then it is worthless.

Dont revive threads. End of.

Especially ones that are time sensitive - My hours have changed dramatically since then, so there is nothing you can add to this thread.
