Is AI War Multiplayer Safe?
« on: October 16, 2016, 05:50:19 pm »
I know using stuff like Hamachi can be risky. But what about the one other option port-forwarding? I am interested in trying multiplayer but I learned the only way to do it is one of those 2 ways. I don't have any friends with the game, and I don't actually know how to really use port-forwarding (though I can most likely look that up), so I need to know if it is safe.  Thanks for any responses. I did try looking up whether port forwarding was safe but the articles I found didn't say whether it is safe for this sort of use.

I've only ever done multiplayer over LAN essentially, we were both on the same network.

I feel Port-forwarding would be safer over using Hamachi but unfortunately I don't know enough to give an informed opinion on the safety of using either between different networks, ie across the internet. I would like to introduce some of my friends to AI War sometime so I'd love to hear the answer to this question as well.

This is pretty much why port forwarding exists.
Ports are closed by default and you have to open them for specific applications.
